Consultation on admission arrangements

Consultation on admission arrangements for St Paul’s CE Primary School for 2024 to 2025 academic year

Notice is hereby given in accordance with legislation that the governing body as the admission authority for St Paul’s CE Primary School is formally consulting on its proposed admission arrangements and admission criteria for the school year 2024-25.

As an admissions authority, we are required to consult the following:

  • Parents of children between the ages of two and eighteen.
  • Other persons in the ‘relevant area’ who in the opinion of the admission authority have an interest in the proposed admissions. We consider this to be the other Deanery Church of England Schools.
  • Other primary and secondary schools in the ‘relevant area’.
  • The Local Authority (LA).
  • Any adjoining neighbouring local authorities where the admission authority is the local authority, i.e. East Sussex County Council.
  • The Education Service of the Diocese of Chichester.

The 6 week (minimum) consultation will begin on Monday 28 November 2022 with the closing date for submitting comments being midnight on Monday 9 January 2023.

We propose the following amendments:

  • Previous category 4 (Children who have siblings at the time of admission) to become category 2.
  • Previous category 2 ( Children whose parents regularly attend** services at St. Paul’s Church, West Street, Brighton, St. Nicholas Church, Dyke Road, Brighton or St Michael and All Angels Church, Victoria Road, Brighton and have children who attend St. Paul’s CE School at the time of admission) to become category 3 with the removal of the wording (and have children who attend St. Paul’s CE School at the time of admission).
  • Previous category 3 (Children whose parents regularly attend** services at other Anglican churches, and have children who attend St. Paul’s CE School at the time of admission) to become category 4 and to be reworded (Children whose parents regularly attend** services at other Christian churches (A church which subscribes to the doctrine of the Holy Trinity or a church recognised by Churches Together in England)).
  • Previous category 5 (Children whose parents regularly attend** services at St. Paul’s Church, West Street, Brighton, St. Nicholas Church, Dyke Road, Brighton or St Michael and All Angels Church, Victoria Road, Brighton) to be removed.
  • Previous category 6 (Children whose parents regularly attend** services at other Anglican churches) to be removed.
  • Previous category 7 (Other children) to become category 5.
